At its basic level, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a helpful and easy way to distribute content to a mass audience very quickly. In its basic form, an RSS system has two components: a reader and an RSS feed. The RSS reader is a program that users can install which collects and displays headlines for the readers to quickly view. For the ones they want to read more about, they simply click that link to visit the source of the article. The RSS feed is the channel that a content provider (such as a news source) uses to distribute content to the RSS readers. On regular intervals, the reader checks the feed(s) for new items to display.
